Spin In and Interweave Knits Fall 2010 Favorites

This week my husband and I attended a spin-in at Temptations (their website is rather minimal, look for a full shop review in an upcoming post!), a shop featured in a group on Ravelry.  This was the first event of it's kind that either of us has attended.

The group numbered about 10 and included both spindle and wheel spinners of all skill levels.  What a blast we had!  We really enjoyed discussing wool and fiber festivals, learning about different fiber and techniques, and seeing what everyone was working on.

I brought along my own terrific little Majacraft Rose wheel, shown here spinning up the roving in the photo at the top of this post.

Another person brought the wheel that her husband made for her - very interesting!

Hopefully I will have finished yarn photos to share soon.

  1. Robin, what a wonderful time you had! People who know how to spin are magicians to me.

  2. LOL Anna! I do think my yarn sometimes looks like it was spun by angry elves...

  3. No, Robin, it's MY yarn that looks like it was spun by angry elves (though they're slowly becoming more appeased)! LOL! Great pictures - and thanks for not showing more than the top of my pointy little head. :-)

  5. Found you through Laurie's blog - it's fun to meet other Columbusites! Actually in Marysville now, but grew up in the old C-Bus. And I LOVE Temptations, though the current recession (bah!) has kept me from shopping there - thrifting sweaters for recycled yarn now. I've wanted to learn how to use a drop spindle, though, so maybe I'll see you at one of the spinning classes! So happy to have found you, and will be following!

  6. Welcome Erin! Around here, as the old saying goes, "there are no strangers, only friends we haven't met." It's fun to meet other locals, and you would love the spin-in at Temptations, definitely put it on your calendar for next month!
